ABSTRACT

Objective@#Explored the characteristics of parental rearing styles, and its association with depressive symptoms and the self-directed learning ability among high school students during COVID-19 epidemic, while providing a basis for family intervention in the area of adolescent mental health and students learning abilities.@*Methods@#A total of 2 893 high school students from the southern, central, and northern regions of Anhui Province were selected using a stratified-cluster sampling method in Feb. 2020. The online questionnaire survey regarding depressive symptoms, self-directed learning abilities, and rearing styles was administered using the smartphone application Questionnaire Star.@*Results@#The prevalence rate of depressive symptoms was 38.9% among high school students during the COVID-19 outbreak. The parental rearing styles of high school students who reported depressive symptoms were characterized as follows:the scores of the parental emotional warmth factor, while relatively high scores of other factors, except the preferred factor. In addition, all of the factors showed statistically significant differences(P<0.01). The parental rearing styles of high school students with a weak self-directed learning ability were characterized as low scores in parental emotional warmth, parents prefer, and paternal over-protection(P<0.05). Ordinal logistic regression analysis revealed that the negative correlation between depressive symptoms, low self-learning ability and parents emotional warmth(father OR=0.95, mother OR=0.95) and father over involvement(OR=0.95), the positive correlation between depressive symptoms, low self-learning ability and father rejection(OR=1.07) and over protection(OR=1.06).@*Conclusion@#Depressive symptoms and the self-directed learning ability of high school students might be associated with paternal rearing styles, particularly in the case of emotional warmth.

ABSTRACT

@#AIM: To evaluate the effect of pupil dilation on ocular biometry and IOL power in cataract patients with high myopia, and the difference between cataract patients with high myopia and cataract patients with normal axial length(AL).<p>METHODS:Measurements of AL, corneal curvature(K including K1 and K2), anterior chamber depth(ACD)were performed using IOLmaster in 22 cataract patients with high myopia(34 eyes)(group A)and 23 cataract patients with normal AL(39 eyes)(group B)before and after pupil dilation. SRK-T and Haigis were used to caculate pre- and post-cycloplegic IOL power.<p>RESULTS:ACD after dilation(3.84±0.58mm)significantly increased comparing with ACD before dilation(3.61±0.35mm)in group A(<i>P</i><0.01). ACD after dilation(3.30±0.70mm)also significantly increased comparing with ACD before dilation(3.13±0.63mm)in group B(<i>P</i><0.01). But the difference of pre- and post-cycloplegic ACD between the two groups was not statistically significant(<i>P</i>>0.05). Pre- and post-cycloplegic AL and K(including K1 and K2)were not significantly different in two groups(<i>P</i>>0.05). The differences between pre- and post-cycloplegic IOL power were not statistically significant using the SRK-T and Haigis formula(<i>P</i>>0.05), but the IOL power changed by over 1D after pupil dilation using the SRK-T and Haigis formula respectively in 15% and 27% of eyes in group A,in 3% and 5% in group B.<p>CONCLUSION:ACD increases after pupil dilation in cataract patients with high myopia, which is not different from cataract patients with normal AL. Pupil dilation does not affect AL, K and the IOL power(using SRK-T and Haigis)in cataract patients with high myopia. But the IOL power may change greater than in cataract patients with normal AL, so we suggest IOL power should be measured and calculated without mydriasis.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To investigate the effects of exercise training on the progression from prehypertension to hy -pertension,blood pressure regulation and the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)-angiotensin(Ang)(1-7)-MAS axis activation in cardiovascular centers ,and to elucidate the central mechanisms of exercise training postponing hyperten -sion progression.METHODS:The male spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR;n=20,5 weeks old)and normotensive Wistar Kyoto(WKY)rats(n=20)were randomly assigned to sedentary(Sed)group and exercise training(ExT)group. The trained rats run on a treadmill in moderate-intensity for 20 weeks.Systolic blood pressure(SBP)was measured by tail-cuff method. The baroreflex sensitivity(BRS)was assessed by intravenous injection of phenylephrine. The expression of ACE2 and MAS receptor at mRNA and protein levels in baroreflex centers were determined by real-time PCR and Western blot, respectively.Alterations of BRS were evaluated before and after intracerebroventricular injection of MAS receptor ago -nist Ang(1-7)and its antagonist A779,respectively.RESULTS:Compared with SHR +Sed group, exercise training since prehypertension significantly postponed the development of hypertension ,delayed the hypertension progression ,and decreased SBP in both SHR and WKY rats(P<0.05).Exercise training enhanced blood pressure regulation and improved the BRS in SHR(P<0.01).The expression of ACE2 and MAS receptor at mRNA and protein levels in the baroreflex cen-ters(rostral ventrolateral medulla ,nucleus tract solitarius and paraventricular nucleus )were up-regulated in SHR +ExT group(P<0.05).Central administration of A779 abolished the benefits of exercise-induced improvement of BRS in SHR +ExT group(P<0.01).In contrast,Ang(1-7)improved the BRS in both SHR +Sed group and SHR +ExT group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Exercise training postpones hypertension progression and improves blood pressure regula -tion,which may be associated with the activation of central ACE 2-Ang(1-7)-Mas axis.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the physiologic change of retinal thickness during pregnancy. METHODS:Forty cases ( 80 eyes ) were included two groups:40 eyes ( 20 cases ) in healthy pregnant women group (including in the second and last trimester), and 40 eyes (20 cases) in healthy nonpregnant women group ( control group ) . The macular volume, average thickness, central subfield thickness and retinal thickness of other parafoveal areas were measured by optical coherence tomography scan. RESULTS: The macular volume was 10. 06±0. 41mm3 and 9. 87±0. 30mm3 in healthy pregnant women group and control group respectively. The average thickness was 279. 43±10. 86μm and 274. 25±8. 07μm in healthy pregnant women group and control group respectively. The central subfield thickness was 235. 15±15. 05μm and 233. 00±15. 81μm in healthy pregnant women group and control group espectively. Statistically significant difference was found in macular volume and average thickness (P CONCLUSION:The macular retinal thickness increases during pregnancy in the second and last trimester. The physiologic change of retinal thickness should be considered when evaluating pathologic retinal disease of pregnant women.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of platelet membrane glyco- proteins and antiplatelet antibody in patients with anaphylactoid purpura. Methods Forty-five patients with anaphylactoid purpura were divided into three groups according to their clinical manifestations,15 in dermal purpura group,18 in mixed group and 12 in nephritis group. The expression of CD62P,CD63 and CD41 in these 45 patients was detected by flow cytometry. The level of antiplatetlet antibody was analysed by ELISA with monoclonal antibody as the probe. Results The percentage of CD62P,CD63 and the level of an- tiplatelet antibody in patients in acute phase were significantly higher than those in regressive phase and those in normal control.Neither of the expression of CD62P,CD63 and CD41,nor the level of antiplatetlet antibody in nephritis group was significantly different from that in the mixed group.Compared with dermal purpura group, the percentage of CD62P was significantly higher in the nephritis group and mixed group. There was no significant difference in CD41 expression among all groups. Conclusion Abnormal humoral immunity exists in anaphylactoid purpura. The activation of platelet could be closely related to the progress of anaphylactoid purpura.CD62P and CD63 could be considered as an index for monitoring of symptoms, determination of prognosis and predicting the outcome in anaphylactoid purpura.
